This is Reality: Out Now 🧡

This is Reality, my debut single, is really here! Released on Thursday 13th of March, it was a recording in some ways years in the making. This song is made from a moment, on the edge of adulthood, when I realised it was time to differentiate expectations from what I really wanted, and start trying to build a life which made me believe those old dreams are worth waking up from.

It’s a no-nonsense note-to-self, advising we let go of perfectionism, potential and idealised versions of who we could’ve been. I am who I am, and this song gives me a space to accept, and -just maybe- celebrate that. Find it on your favourite streaming platform, or follow me on social media for updates (think lyric video / gigs / giveaways…)

Support so far...

A week before release day, This is Reality received two radio plays. One from NMG on Cambridge Radio, and the other on BBC Introducing for Cambridgeshire & Essex. Since then it also had a spin on Songs Behind The Music‘s Future Hits Radio takeover show on March 27th, alongside an interview feature with me & a shoutout to another up & coming artist Alex Wilkinson (Daniel’s show has a cool feature encouraging artists to recommend each other and it gives such a lovely community feel!).

As for non-broadcast features, This is Reality’s release was announced on the Caveat music blog, shared by The Best New Indie on Instagram, and supported again by Songs Behind the Music in their “songs of the week” playlist and blog roundup.

The Release Party...

Online community has always meant the world to me as a chronically ill person, much of my self-acceptance wouldn’t have felt possible without the long-distance disabled community I’ve connected with over the years. With that in mind, it seemed only fitting to host my first single release party online. I went live via YouTube on release day. We had live chat enabled for all-important chats about biscuits, waistcoats and where the two collide, I played a few songs, and everyone being there made me feel really special.

The replay is available now! As with the livestream itself, the link is unlisted so if you want it, use the form on this page to sign up to my mailing list and it’ll be delivered to your inbox.
