Music in the square

Friday 26th of August

Come to Saffron Walden town square between 11:45am and 2:15pm for acoustic performances from young musicians.

This is a part of Saffron Walden Town Council’s summer of free events, and is hosted by Sakara, a local singer-songwriter who can often be found at Fairycroft house or local outdoor events.

The Performers:

Katie Dorrington

Katie will be singing a variety of covers, in her first solo performance in some time! Katie usually performs as the lead vocalist of Eva’s Dream, who’s website you can find here.

Ellie Grace

Ellie writes original songs in a folk-pop inspired style. Her lyrics tell stories of people you end up wishing you’d been there to meet! You can find all her upcoming gigs on her Instagram, or Facebook page.

Sakara

As previously mentioned, Sakara is a singer-songwriter. Her lyrics discuss the nature of growing up with complex, energy-limiting conditions, while being the type of person to dream big and sing about fairies… And Spitfires… You’re currently on her website and can find her Instagram here, Facebook page here and TikTok here.

Lastly I’d like to give a couple of extra shout outs, one to Fairycroft house and The Garden youth music group, as that’s where Katie and I met properly back in 2018 (and they got me involved in the Jubilee gig where I met Ellie!), if you’ve got a teenager (or are a teenager) who’s interested in playing music with other young people, it’s a great place to start. It’s held every Monday evening in term time at Fairycroft house in Walden.

And last but not least to Paul Wood -guitarist and songwriter of the previously mentioned Eva’s Dream band- who kindly lent his PA and helped us set up so we could elevate our sound beyond guitar amps!

And of course to you- for visiting this site and possibly having been our audience. Hope we brought some light to your Friday afternoon, do keep up to date with all the performers and future events!
